Narconon and L. Ron Hubbard
I've heard that L. Ron Hubbard helped to create the 12 steps outlined in the Big Book of AA. Is this true? And how is Narconon related to AA and Al-Anon?
Hubbard created Scientology which inspired Narconon. Apart from sounding confusingly similar to Al-Anon or Nar-Anon, Narconon has nothing whatever to do with AA or the steps. Narconon is a drug rehab program based in Scientology and does not use the steps.
During the period the steps were outlined in NY and Ohio Hubbard was a struggling author in Washington State. The chances that he influenced the creation or wording of the steps are negligible.
