The Steps
are a summary of the A.A. program of recovery from alcoholism precisely presented in The Big Book (
Alcoholics Anonymous: The Story of How Many Thousands of Men and Women Recovered from Alcoholism)from the title page to page 164 (including front material).
The Traditions on p. 561 - Appendix I - are seen in their "short form" which are a summary of the "long form" of The Traditions found on p. 563. Bill W.'s essays on A.A.'s Traditions are published in the book
Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions.
The two "window shades" measuring roughly 3' by 4' that hang in many AA meeting rooms present summaries of the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous. A third, less common window shade also available from the General Service office of Alcoholics Anonymous presents the Twelve Concepts. Altogether, they present 36 of the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous - more are found in the Big Book.
